SAC to Celebrate National Astronomy Day

The Scobee Planetarium and the San Antonio Astronomical Association will celebrate National Astronomy Day by co-hosting an Observing Session on Saturday, April 21 near the San Antonio College Observatory in the adjacent parking lot.

"On this evening about two dozen telescopes from the San Antonio Astronomical Association will be set up in the surrounding parking lot, and the large telescope in the College Observatory will be open to the public," said Bryan Snow, Planetarium Coordinator.

Snow said that views of the craters on the Moon, the planets Saturn and Venus, and other telescopic targets will be available to everyone free of charge.  "Families are encouraged to bring their children to view these wonderful sights."

The Observatory and surrounding telescopes will be available from 8:30-10:30 p.m.   Parking is free, located one block east of San Pedro Ave. off W. Park.  If it is cloudy or raining, the observing session will be cancelled.  For more information, call 733-2910.
