SAC Medical Assisting & BCMS Staffing Services
|
WHAT
Officials from San Antonio College and Bexar County Medical Society (BCMS) Staffing Services will sign an agreement to create a Mentorship Program for the college's Medical Assisting students. The program will address the shortage of qualified medical assisting personnel while also giving trained students (who must meet BCMS standards) experiences in health care settings. Student "externs" will be paid for a half-day of work and earn college credit for the unpaid half-day, which counts toward their externship - benefiting both the students and the health care providers. Consequently, students will gain valuable experience and prove themselves to employers who may decide to hire them full-time.
