50th Annual San Antonio College Folk Dance Festival

WHAT  
50th Annual San Antonio College Folk Dance Festival
For 50 years now, the San Antonio College (SAC) Folk Dance Festival has been promoting and preserving the multi-cultural heritage of San Antonio and South Texas.  This year’s folk dance concert features dances and music from Mexico, Europe, and the U.S.  Costumes represent authentic dress from the respective countries.
 
Scheduled groups include:
·      Arte Flamenco (Spain)
·      San Antonio City Parks & Recreation (Mexico)
·      Alamotion (Dance fusion)
·      San Antonio College dance students (China fusion)
·      Northwest Vista College dance students (TBD)
·      Trinity University dance students (TBD)
·      Romance Point (U.S. round dancing)
·      Patrick McMillan Dance Group (U.S. country and western)
·      Csardas of Austin (Hungary)
·      Der Deutsche Volkstanzverein-Mazurka (Germany and Poland)

(building located on San Pedro Ave. at Courtland Place, just south of Ashby)
 
TICKETS
Free for ACCD students, faculty and staff, and children 12 and under.
$10 general admission
$5 for military, students and other students with ID.
 
Proceeds benefit scholarships to San Antonio College.
 
ADD’L DETAILS
2008 Festival Honors to be presented include Texas Folklore Award; National Dance Award; and Texas Dance Award.
