Ballet Folklorico Fiesta Mexicana Performs at SAC |
| WHAT: RARELY SEEN IN THE U.S. - Ballet Folklorico Fiesta Mexicana from Nueva Leon, Monterrey (Mexico) performs as an encore to the 2008 Hispanic Heritage Celebration at San Antonio College. “Ballet Folklorico” refers to traditional dances and sounds that reflect the rich, colorful histories and cultures of various Mexican regions. In addition to illustrious costumes, the energetic dances feature such musical instruments as guitar, violin, harp and the jarana, a small distinctive sounding guitar- or ukulele-like stringed instrument from the Mexican state of Veracruz. WHEN: Friday, October 24, 2008 7:30 – 9 p.m. (doors open 7 p.m.) NOTE: There will also be a preview performance at 11 a.m. in the outside mall area between Loftin Student Center and Moody Learning Center.
