WHAT:
- The San Antonio College Mortuary Science Department will host a talk on “Organ Donation Stakeholder” for
funeral service providers and health care professionals.
- Some of the topics covered will include consumer protection and disclosure, involvement of the funeral director/embalmer as well as the funeral establishment and crematory, the Texas Willed Body Programs and procurement of cadavers for science and research, accreditation issues, transportation, and the Federal Trade Commission funeral rule.

Note: Senator Jane Nelson has given Mr. Robbins a legislative mandate to coordinate a
stateside effort to increase organ and tissue donation awareness. San Antonio College is
the second of 10 sites where he will be appearing.
- Attendees will include funeral directors, embalmers, and other health care professionals
in the San Antonio and surrounding areas. Funeral directors/embalmerscan earn two
hours of continuing education credit for attending this talk.
NOTE:
- The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) recently ranked the SAC
Mortuary Science program as “Exemplary,” which is given to programs that exceed
the THECB’s required standards of excellence. So far this year, nine programs at SAC
have received this ranking.
