Presidential Volunteer Service Awards Are Presented |
In an awards ceremony at San Antonio College, fifteen students, faculty and staff and two organizations received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, which is given to citizens and residents who contribute at least 100 hours to the community in a 12-month period. The Phi Theta Kappa Beta Nu Chapter international student honors society received an award for their community service, which include donating more than 1,300 books to needy students ‹ the second greatest number to be donated by a PTK organization in the U.S. Also, the SAC Public Administration Club received an award for their community service, which came to 1,360 hours in the past year, and since 1993 the club has donated more than 22,000 hours of community service. The following individuals, who collectively donated more than 3,500 hours of community service, also received a Presidential Volunteer Service Award: Honorees received a personalized certificate, lapel pin, a letter from President Bush, and a letter from the President¹s Council on Service and Civic Participation.
