Texas Film Commission Locations Workshop

WHAT Texas Film Commission Location Workshop Taught by Director of the Texas Film Commission Bob Hudgins, and offered in cooperation with San Antonio College, the one-day, intensive course teaches skills to find useful locations for productions shot in Texas. Participants should be prepared to work outside in the heat for a short time and bring a digital camera if possible. Topics include: making contacts and finding locations; documenting site options; presenting location options to production companies; making the ‘ask’ to property owners; on-set responsibilities; and wrapping up the location after the shoot. WHEN Saturday, July 12, 2008 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Arrive early – late attendees will not be admitted.) WHERE San Antonio College 1300 San Pedro Ave., 78212 Longwith Radio Television and Film Building (The building is located on the north side of the college, on E. Courtland Pl. at N. Main St.) WHO To participate, students must: • Be 18 years of age or older • Be a legal resident of Texas • Have a valid Texas Driver’s License or Texas I.D. Card • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. • Have basic math and reading skills (English) • And have one year of film/video production experience OR: · Have completed the Texas Film Commission’s Production Assistant (PA) Workshop REGISTRATION DETAILS Students must register in advance. ADD’L DETAILS A Location Scout is the film/video industry’s primary resource for identifying appropriate filming locations. This course provides an overview of motion picture production Location Scout and Location Manager duties. Upon completion and certification, students will be listed in the Texas Production Directory as having completed the TFC Texas Film Commission Locations Workshop. The directory will be launched this summer at the Texas Film Commission’s website – www.texasfilmcommission.com. Completers may take subsequent Texas Film Commission training in specialized production departments, including: Camera, Craft Service, Grip, Lighting, Props, Art/Set Construction, Sound, Video Assist and Wardrobe.
