SAC partners with Community College of the Air Force to
Offer Online Courses This Fall

SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 6, 2009) – San Antonio College via SAC Online, along with other Alamo Colleges, will begin offering courses this fall to students of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).    With this venture, Alamo Colleges is serving another military market, and meeting their educational needs.

To facilitate this, SAC Online Director Helen Torres, and Webmaster Daniel Breeden developed a model landing page, General Education Mobile (GEM), to be used to recruit and enroll individuals from the military who are ready for college level courses.

“Experience has shown us that military students are primarily seeking six- and eight-week online courses as they are highly transient,” Torres said.  “And we think this partnership addresses that need.”

San Antonio College offered the first online course in San Antonio in Spring 1996, thereby launching the first Distance Education Program.  In 2004 it was renamed SAC Online and now offers 187 college courses to meet the core curriculum requirements of associate of arts and associate of applied science degrees.

The CCAF, a two-year institution exclusively serving enlisted personnel, is accredited through Air University headquartered at Maxwell AFB, Ala., by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Military personnel can apply at www.alamo.edu/sac/online/gem. Students are advised to use Internet Explorer.
