SAN ANTONIO, TX (Aug 6, 2009) – San Antonio College radio station KSYM 90.1-FM donated more than 950 lbs. of non-perishable food to the Phi Theta Kappa Food Pantry collected from listeners
John Basham, KSYM program director, and morning DJ James “Hot Mustard” Velten, delivered bags and boxes to the Food Pantry. PTK Secretary Rachel Post and sponsor Susan Spencer were on hand to receive the two vehicles packed with donations.
“This was very generous, this was wonderful,” said Dr. Alice Johnson, SAC Dean of Learning Resources, who supports the food pantry.
Basham said the listeners dropped off donations between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 1-2, at the radio station. Some of the early bird donors received T-shirts, CDs and KSYM Fiesta medals in appreciation.
The PTK Food Pantry is located in the Catholic Student Center, at Belknap and Courtland Place; for information, call (210) 486-0904.
