International Education Week at San Antonio College, Nov. 16-20, 2009
The week celebrates the benefits of international education and worldwide exchange. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

Keynote speaker is Dr. Sara Jackson, professor of international business at the University of the Incarnate Word. All Alamo Colleges students, staff, and faculty are welcome.

Discover the array of foreign language classes SAC offers, such as Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and Italian. Also, learn about summer study abroad opportunities for Japan, Costa Rica and Europe.

“Bridges to the World-Focus on Asia”
SAC Visual Arts Technology Center (VATC), Room 120
SAC students from Vietnam, Mongolia and India will talk about their countries’ geography, customs, languages and political systems. Dr. Jonathan Lee of the SAC History Department will facilitate a discussion on issues faced in the students’ countries.

“Book Talk”

SAC international student Maricarmen Esper, will discuss her book, “How to Educate in Ethical Values.” This book provides the foundation and information needed to implement an educational program intended to promote ethical values of honesty, responsibility, self control, respect, discipline, justice, tolerance, patriotism and joy.

“Short Film-Afghan Women”
VATC 120
“Afghan Women: A History of Struggle” captures the resilience and courage of a group of remarkable women who risk their lives daily in their struggle for political, economic and social equality. Dr. Kathryn Miller of the Human Services Department at SAC will lead the discussion after the film.
