SAC instructor Yuko Kawabe and 17 students completed a “Study Abroad in Japan” trip this summer.   Students completed a three-week course,  “Beginning Conversation Japanese I” (JAPN 1311) at SAC, and took the two-week trip June 16-20.

   The group  visited seven Japanese cities: Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Iwakuni, Fukuoka, Nagasaki and Tokyo.  Students had a total immersion experience, talking with Japanese people and visiting various sights.

 Kawabe reports  that many students found Kyoto the most impressive stop because old and new Japan coexists.  Several students stayed all day at Akihabara in Tokyo, which is famous for electronics, and cutting edge Japanese technology.
