This certificate is awarded to those who receive a better than 80 percent in their total competition score. Dario Andrade, Engineering Technology Drafting major, placed among the upper 33 percent in the nation for his skill category.
Skills USA competition begins in the spring semester numbering in access of one quarter million contestants nationally. Of those challengers, more than 5,000 students participated in various Skills Competitions at the national level this year.
EET Program Coordinator, David Mochen, who accompanied the Texas State Champions as their technical advisor, reports that the three students worked as a team.
“Gernsbacher provided leadership guidance, Alvarado exhibited an excellent focused approach to learning new material and Andrade was the ‘sparkplug’ and spirit leader of the group,” Mochen said.
