Scholarship Criteria

1) Must be an entering freshman, less than 30 hours.

2) Must demonstrate financial need: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the academic year 2009-2010 must be on file with the Office of Student Financial Services including other required documents.
 
3) Must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA during the fall 2009 semester to receive funding for spring 2010.  A GPA of at least 2.5 is required throughout all successive semesters to continue to receive the scholarship.

4) Be enrolled and maintain enrollment as a full-time student (at least 12 semester credit hours).

5) Submit a copy of your high school transcript with GPA of 2.5 or greater.

6) At least one recipient at each college must be majoring in math or science.

7) If selected, you are required to provide a current photograph that will be submitted to the donor with biographical information. 

• The amount of each award is $1,000 per semester up to four semesters, FALL/SPRING for five selected students at each of the Alamo Colleges. Valero Scholarships will not be awarded for summer sessions. This scholarship becomes effective for the Fall 2009 semester and may be renewed for up to a total of 3 successive semesters (total $4,000 for tuition, lab fees, books, and other related educational expenses) within the parameters of the criteria above.
