SAN ANTONIO, TX (Sept. 30) – Check out the new walking/biking maps available from the City of San Antonio’s Office of Environmental Policy.
The maps specific to San Antonio College display bike facilities and sidewalks, including “friendly” routes to schools, VIA bus facilities, and neighborhood sites such as parks, libraries, museums, pharmacies, grocery and convenience stores.
The maps are a visual reminder of the amenities that are close enough to the SAC campus to comfortably walk (quarter mile) or bike (2.5 miles) to in about 15 minutes or less.
The goal of the Office of Environmental Policy’s Bicycle Program, is “to increase bicycle ridership for daily travel and improve cycling safety by making our network accessible, direct and continuous.” “Benefits of Biking & Walking” on the www.sanantonio.gov web site emphasizes both alternative forms of transportation as good for the environment, personal health, the pocketbook and cutting down on auto traffic.
Full-color maps are available in various SAC buildings, including the Loftin Student Center and the Fletcher Administration Center.
