The winners of the Women in History Essay Contest were honored Tuesday, March 17, by the SAC Women's Center. The contest was part of activities for Women's History Month.

The winning essays were:
"Break a Leg & Take a Bow," written by Vanessa Mireles, honoring Debra Coates, Technical Director, Theatre & Speech Communication;  "A Woman's Hand," written by Elizabeth Peralta, honoring
Sylvia De Leon, Professor/Coordinator of Public Administration; and "More than Just a Counselor," written by Kristen Rodriguez, honoring Dr. Dawn McFadden, Counselor-Student Assistance Program.
 
Each student received the $500 Ann Richards Endowed Scholarship for Women.

The purpose of the essay contest is to honor San Antonio College women students, staff, faculty and/or administrators who encourage and promote sensitivity to and awareness of issues that relate to women.

Anyone wishing to read the winning essays is invited to pick up copies at the Women's Center.
