SAC & A&M-Kingsville Announce
2 + 2 Agreement
|
| San Antonio College and Texas A&M University at Kingsville officials
today announced an articulation (or 2 + 2) agreement to jointly
offer a program of study leading to a Bachelor of Science degree with a
Human Sciences, Child and Family Studies Concentration. The agreement will
make it easier for San Antonio College Child Development students to complete
a four-year degree through coursework at A&M-Kingsville at Palo Alto
College. This is another opportunity for Child Development majors to continue their education, said Chairperson Cathleen Castillo, who added, and that can only help young children in San Antonio. Castillo joined San Antonio College President Vern Loland, Occupational-Technical Dean Betty Larson, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville officials Janice Van Buren and Gary Ross in a ceremony at San Antonio College to formalize the agreement. According to the agreement, San Antonio College students can complete up to 83 hours of freshman and sophomore courses in Child Development, as described in the degree plan, then transfer these credits to Texas A&M University Kingsville at Palo Alto College to complete the remainder of their undergraduate work concentrating in Human Sciences, Child and Family Studies. Students must maintain a 2.5 Grade Point Average in their courses to transfer. Accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, the San Antonio College Child Development Program was the first of its kind in San Antonio and now has the largest enrollment (410 majors) in Texas. For more information about the agreement, contact Cathleen Castillo at 733-2409. |
