AITP Students Win $2,000 in Cash Prizes
 
Students from the San Antonio College Chapter of the Association of Information and Technology Professionals (AITP) won five awards and $2,000 in cash prizes at the Seventh Annual AITP National Collegiate Conference in Kansas City, Mo., April 4-6.

San Antonio College received the Top Monkey Award for the second consecutive year for “highest level of overall conference support.”

AITP Chapter President Jason Samfield won Second Place and $750 for his essay “Artificial Intelligence: Neural Networks.”

“San Antonio College was competing against many top-notch and four-year universities like Texas A&M and Purdue,” Samfield said. “We cleaned up in the C++ contest and plan on doing the same next year!”

Winning teams in the C++ Programming Contest were: Shawn Tanner and Jenny (Cunjun) Liu (Second Place and $750); Brian Brice II and Mark Jason Kahn (Third Place and $500); and AITP Chapter Secretary John Hathorn and Steven Sanchez (Fourth Place Honorable Mention).

More than 700 students attended the national conference.
