Hoy Is Named SAC Interim VP

| Dr. Thomas Hoy, Title V Director, has been named Interim Executive Vice President for San Antonio College, effective August 19, when Executive Vice President Robert Zeigler will assume the college presidency on the retirement of President Vern Loland. Zeigler announced his decision to appoint Hoy at a recent College Academic Council meeting. | |
| "Dr. Hoy has served the college with distinction for
many years. I am pleased that he agreed to assume the interim position.
I know Dr. Hoy will do an exemplary job for the college and for students,"
said Zeigler. Hoy earned a B.S. in social work from Hardin-Simmons University, an M.S.W. in clinical social work from Our Lady of the Lake University, an M.A. in counseling psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Nova Southeastern University. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist and holds licenses as a professional counselor and as a counselor in chemical dependency. He first served at San Antonio College in 1973-1975 as a Counselor in the Special Services Department then worked as a Counselor and Coordinator of Special Services and of Developmental Studies at St. Philip's College 1975-1983. He returned to San Antonio College and served as Counselor and Coordinator of disAbility Support Services, Coordinator of the FIPSE Institution-wide Drug Prevention Program, Director of the Title III Program, Coordinator of the 75th Anniversary, and Director of the Title V Program. As Director of the Title III and Title V programs, Hoy has been involved in numerous projects aimed at providing infrastructure and training designed to meet the instructional needs of faculty and students. Hoy has been active in professional organizations and has published articles and made numerous presentations. He has received various honors, including the Excellence Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development, Outstanding Graduate Student from Nova Southeastern University, Darrell Truitt Research Award, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Atlanta Olympic Organizing Committee. His community service activities include consulting with the Scottish Rite Learning Disabilities Program and serving on the Ethics Committee of the Texas Counseling Association and the advisory boards of the Westside Women's Coalition, the San Antonio Epilepsy Foundation, and the San Antonio Junior Volleyball Association. He is one of 200 national volleyball referees in the U.S. and has served as Vice President of the Officials Division of the United States Volleyball Association, and currently chairs the Referees Commission of the Lone Star Region of the U.S. Association of Volleyball. |
