SAC Celebrates International Education Week, Nov. 12-16
 
San Antonio College will observe International Education Week, Nov. 12-16, offering a line-up of activities to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange.

International Education Week is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State. The initiative is part of an effort to encourage policies and programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States.

Events offered at San Antonio College are:

Tuesday, Nov. 13

“Expo 2001,” 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Loftin Student Center
Students will represent 25 countries showcasing traditional clothing, music and artifacts.
“From the Big Picture to the Classroom: Examples of Successful Activities Used to Internationalize the Curriculum,” 2-4 p.m., Visual Arts & Technology Center, Rm. 120
Faculty panel who have infused their courses with international content will present examples ranging from simulations to video clips that have worked well with students.

Wednesday, Nov. 14
“Panel on the International Crisis,” 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Visual Arts & Technology Center, Rm. 120
Faculty panel will present key information about the history of Afghanistan, elements of Islam, broader international context of the crisis unfolding, and military dimensions.

Thursday, Nov. 15

“Faculty Travel Abroad,” 1-4 p.m., Moody Learning Center, Rm. 706
Presentations on Fulbright grant travel for faculty and arranging travel abroad for groups from San Antonio College. Resource and College Development Director Susan Espinoza will present, “How to Apply for a Fulbright.”

The public is invited to attend any of the events. Educators are especially encouraged to attend.
