SAC’s 8th Annual Multicultural Conference is Set
 
The 8th Annual San Antonio College Multicultural Conference will be held April 23-25, featuring presentations, discussions, literary and dance performances on the theme of “Representing the Other.” All events except the final stage production are free and open to the public.

The Opening Ceremonies begin Tuesday, April 23 at 8 p.m. in McAllister Auditorium, featuring Keynote Speaker Michael Hull, author of “Sun Dancing: A Spiritual Journey on the Red Road,” and a drum performance by Mo Pair and the Waterloo Singers.

On Wednesday, April 24, there will be a series of presentations in the Visual Arts & Technologies Building, room 120, on a variety of subjects such as Catholicism, Native Americans, followed by a rountable discussion by Beatriz Rivera, author of “Playing with Light.” At 6 p.m. in the Loftin Student Center, there will be an evening of literary selections from an anthology of San Antonio College student writing and presentations by Cynthia Leal Massey, Denise Karachuk Feikema, and Juanita Luna Lawhn, and readings by UTSA author Norma Cantu and New York writer Bneatriz Rivera.

On Thursday, April 25, there will be a series of literary discussions, including presentations by scholars such as UTSA Professor Feliz Almaraz, St. Mary’s Unviersity’s Richard Pressman, San Antonio College’s Joan Fabian, Paul McQuien, Ioannis Vassiliou, and Incarnate Word Unviersity’s Philip Lampe. At 8 p.m., there will be a dramatic performance at McCreless Theater of “Nora,” a play written and directed by San Antonio College Theater Professor Allan Ross, based on Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House.” There is free admission for San Antonio College faculty, staff and students, @10 for senior citizens, military and students, and $12 general admission.
