SAC Students Attend NASA Program

Seventeen San Antonio College students recently participated in a two-day, Community College Aerospace Scholars program at the Johnson Space Center of the National Aeronautical Space Agency (NASA) in Houston to learn more about careers in science and engineering. They were among 300 students from across the state involved in the program.

According to Dr. Dan G. Dimitriu, faculty advisor, the students formed teams to establish fictional companies interested in Mars exploration. Each company prepared a line drawing and mock-up of a Mars rover, built a stand-alone rover, and created an infrastructure budget, communications, and final presentation.

The students who participated were Jonathan Barlett, Shawn Botella, Guillermo Escobedo, Michelle Garcia, Guadalupe Garza, Mirna Gonzales, Phillip Guillen, Lenny Hernandez, James Leija, Scott McNea, Amanda Mendez, Andrea Morales, Gregory Odom, Michael Ovalle, Joe Puentes, John Ruiz, and Alfred Vitela.
