SAC Outstanding Former Student Nomination
Deadline Is Extended

| The nomination deadline for the 2002-2003 San Antonio College Outstanding
Former Student Award has been extended to Friday, October 25, at 5 p.m.
The recipient will be recognized at the Commencement Ceremony in May and
will be invited to speak at the 2003 Honors Ceremony at San Antonio College. To qualify, the nominee must have been enrolled for a minimum of 24 college credit hours at San Antonio College, must not be a current employee, and must have made a significant, publicly recognized contribution to the community (local, state, national and/or world communities). Nominations should include as much information as possible about the nominee, such as a current resume, biographical profile, clippings, and a letter of nomination detailing the reasons why the nominee should be considered for the award. A college committee will review all nominations and make their recommendation to the president. The first person to receive the award was Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez in the 1982-1983 academic year. Since that time, honorees have included people from a variety of professions. A few of the honorees include Judge Sarah Garrahan, archaeologist Lisa Brown, artist Jesse Treviño, former District Attorney Steven Hilbig, educator Jesse Zapata, entertainer Patsy Torres, former Chief of Police Al Philippus, and astronaut Francis Scobee, and physician Martin Basaldua. In 2001-2002, the award was given to Judge Sara Kleban Radin. Nomination forms may be picked up at the Public Relations Office, Fletcher Administration Center, room 313, or by calling 210/733-2147 to request a form by fax or mail.
