SAC's 8th Annual Book Fair & Book Fair Week
 
The 8th Annual San Antonio College Book Fair will be held Saturday, April 5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. outdoors near the Gym and Planetarium. This free, family-oriented festival celebrates books, writing and the imagination, climaxing a week of literary activities at the college. Call 733-2147 for more information.

Book Fair, April 5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.:
The Book Fair will feature presentations by authors of children's and young adult books, and more than 20 authors from across Texas will be available in the Author Tents to discuss and autograph their books. Other highlights include book vendors, publishers, children's crafts, book characters (Wild Thing, Madeline, Pinkerton, BQ Dog, and Raggedy Ann & Andy), a moon bounce, balloon animals, a DJ, live music by Charlie Wood and St. James Gate, the San Antonio Street Dance and Drum Co., scholarship drawings, and free T-shirts while they last. The schedule for readings and entertainers is as follows:

Children's/Young Adult Tent: 11-11:30 a.m.: Bryce Milligan, The Prince of Ireland and the Three Magic Stallions, Bridget's Cloak; 12-12:30 p.m.: Jean Flynn, Ladies First, Stephen F. Austin, Annie Oakley, William Barret Travis and others; and Paige Ramsey-Palmer, Young Troopers: Stories of Army Children on the Frontier.
Entertainers: 10 a.m.-12 noon, Troy Scott, Clown; 12-1:30 p.m., St. James Gate (Irish music); 12-4 p.m. face painter; 2-4 p.m., Daisey Bee, Clown; 2:30-3 p.m., San Antonio Street Dance & Drum Co.; 3-4 p.m., Charlie Wood (Grammy-nominated jazz guitarist).

Book Fair Week Activities, March 31-April 3:
All weekday readings and book signings, except the Poetry Slam in McCreless Auditorium, will be held in the Visual Arts & Technologies Building, Room 120, and are free and open to the public.

Monday, March 31, 11 a.m.:
Susie Kelly Flatau will read from her work in Red Boots and Attitude, From My Mother's Hands, and Counter Culture Texas. 

Tuesday, April 1, 10:50 a.m.-12:05 p.m.:
Poets Cyra Dumitru (Listening to Light), Margie McCreless Roe (Flight Patterns), Patricia Spears Bigelow, and Carol Coffee Reposa (Facts of Life, Winter Lights, and The Green Room) will read from and discuss their poetry.

Wednesday, April 2,
9 a.m.: David Liss will read from his national bestseller A Conspiracy of Paper, which has been translated into seven languages and won the Edgar Award for best first novel, and from his new book The Coffee Trader. 
7 p.m.:  A Poetry Slam in McCreless Auditorium is open to the public and will feature ACCD students competing for cash prizes by reading and performing their poetry before a panel of judges.

Thursday, April 3, 8-9:15 a.m.:
Authors Patricia Portales and Sheila Sanchez-Hatch will read from their fiction and poetry from the anthology Cantos Al Sexto Sol, and Paul Perry will read from his short stories published in Lost People, Street People, and the Ontiveros Street Trilogy.
