SAC Continuing Education Reorganizes

| San Antonio College President Robert Zeigler has approved the reorganization
of the Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, which
is overseen by Dean Ruben Torres. Now known as the Continuing Education Training Network, the division comprises the following components: Center for Career Programs, Center for Educator Preparation, Center for Life Studies, Center for Professional Development, Computer Training Institute, Continuing Nursing Education Center, EMS Training & Health Professions Academy, and Law Enforcement Training Academy. The Continuing Education Training Network registration desk has been renamed the C.E. Customer Service Center. "This change is the result of a recently completed evaluation of division programs and services," said Torres. He noted the change "reflects our new emphasis on responding to the needs of our primary audiences, employers and current students," as well as the suggestions of former students, instructors, and other opinion leaders. Torres added that a result of the reorganization is "a systematic approach to the manner in which program directors collaborate on projects, mobilize resources, engage in research and development, and improve the response time to requests for customized training." He said the division's strategic goal is to increase enrollments in the coming academic year beyond the anticipated 15,000 students, reduce course cancellation rates, and increase annual revenues over the next three years.
