The San Antonio College Continuing Education Network will sponsor a seminar by Penny Gardner on Oct. 18, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the education of children using principles developed by the famous 19th Century British educator Charlotte Mason. The seminar, which will be held in the Visual Arts & Technology Center (Lewis & Dewey streets), Room 120, at a cost of $35, should be of special interest to the parents of home-schooled children.

Charlotte Mason's educational philosophy, which is gaining popularity in the United States, focuses on the core subjects of reading, writing and arithmetic as well as the fine arts. Children learn to "tell back" what they have learned, write essay examinations, keep a nature diary, and read classic literature, among other activities.
