The deadline to nominate someone for the 2003-2004 San Antonio College
Outstanding Former Student Award has been extended to Friday, Nov. 21
at 5 p.m. Chief of Police Albert Ortiz and Norma Rodriguez, former San
Antonio City Clerk, received the award for 2002-2003.
The award was originally presented to the late U.S. Congressman Henry
B. Gonzalez and has since been awarded to people from a variety of fields
who have made outstanding contributions in their professions and through
community service. Some recipients have included physician Martin Basaldua,
archaeologist Lisa Brown, educator James R. Vasquez, singer Patsy Torres,
and psychiatrist Robert L. Jimenez.
Nominations should include the nominee's name, social security number
(if known), occupation, current address, dates of attendance (semesters
and years), and accomplishments, which should ideally include a current
resume and possibly supporting materials such as clippings and letters
of recommendation. Also, the person making the nomination should include
his or her own name, phone number and address.
