SAC to Host 3rd Annual Institute on Quality in Early Childhood
 
The 3rd Annual Institute on Quality in Early Childhood will be held May 18-23 at San Antonio College. A leadership development program, the institute will feature speakers and workshops that focus on advocacy for children and families.

Speakers will include Mayor Ed Garza; Dr. Blandina Cardenas, UTSA; Rep. Mike Villarreal; and Helen Blank, Director of Child Care for the Children's Defense Fund, Washington D.C. A panel addressing National, State and Local Policy Impacting Early Care and Education will feature Blank, Donna Garret, Director of Child Care with the Texas Workforce Commission, and Dennis Campa, Director of Community Initiatives with the City of San Antonio.

Workshops will cover proposal writing, strategic planning, empowering families, and children with special needs. In addition, participants may go on an advocacy trip to Austin to speak directly to policy-makers.

The institute is co-sponsored by San Antonio College, KLRN, Family Service Association, SMART START, City of San Antonio Children's Resource Division, and SAAEYC. 

Participants may attend some or all of the five-day conference, with a matching pricing structure provided on the registration form. The cost for all five days is $195, which includes a Gala Kickoff Dinner at the St. Anthony's Hotel, all work sessions, the trip to Austin, supplies, and three lunches. Additional guest tickets for the Gala are $25.
