SAC Senior Summer Program Accepting
High School Graduates
|
| Graduates from 15 San Antonio high schools are invited to enroll in San
Antonio College's Senior Summer Program, which runs for six weeks from June
9 - July 18. The application deadline is Friday, May 30. Students can get
a head start on college by enrolling in up to 15 hours of courses, with
college-credit classes transferable to any college. "This specially designed program makes the transition from high school to college more painless by grouping the recently graduated high school seniors together into their own sections in courses in developmental math, English or reading," said Program Coordinator Javier Vargas. In addition, college-credit courses are available in history, government, sociology, math, English, and student development. The Student Development class helps students fine-tune their test taking, study, and time management skills. He said scholarships and grants are available for students, who should complete a 2002-2003 financial aid form. Participating high schools include Burbank, Edison, Fox Tech, Harlandale, Highlands, Jefferson, Kennedy, Lanier, Lee, McCullum, Memorial, Sam Houston, Southside, Southwest, and South San. Classes will meet Monday-Friday, with the earliest class starting at 8:40 a.m. and the latest starting at 1:30 p.m. For more information, call Javier Vargas at 733-2475. |
