to the public.
Steve Kolars, Chairman of the Computer Information Systems Department,
invites interested people to submit a proposal for a session to
request a session by mailing proposals to skolars@venus.sac.accd.edu.
Linux is an operating system developed by Linus Torvalds at the
University of Helsinki in Finland in 1991, who released the source
code for free public use. It is now the main alternative to Unix
and Microsoft proprietary operating systems and has been accepted
by IBM, Hewlett-Packard and other computing companies worldwide.
Linux user groups use the code to develop a wide variety of programs
for such uses as anti-spam, encryption, email, games, graphics,
databases, spreadsheets, word processors, and scientific projects
in AI, astronomy, biology, and math, among other things.
The Linux Fest workshops will be held in the Nail Technical Center
(NTC). Call Steve Kolars at 733-2290 for more information or check
