The San Antonio chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) will honor Irene Abrego and Marianne Odom, San Antonio College journalism instructors and student publication advisors, among others at the Headliner Awards on June 2 at the Crowne Plaza Riverwalk Hotel.
"Abrego and Odom will be awarded the Education Headliner, which honors individuals active for at least 10 years in the education field and for outstanding achievement in their field of specialization.

Under their guidance, SAC students continue to produce award-winning publications, such as The Ranger," according to AWC spokesperson Salwa Lanford. Other honorees include Raham S. Ramamurthy, M.D. (individual achievement), Father David H. Garcia (public endeavor), Janet Henry (volunteer service), Karen A. Waldron, Ph.D., (professional achievement) Chris Marrou (media excellence), and Cynthia Ladson and Cindy Wallace (outstanding service to the local AWC chapter).
