Gerald Busald, San Antonio College mathematics professor, has been named to the Search Committee to assist and advise the Texas Lottery Commission in identifying qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director.
The committee will forward candidates' names to the three-member commission, who will make a final decision on who will replace Reagan Greer, the former executive director who resigned July 8.
For years, Busald has been a critic of the Texas Lottery, as his statistics students have identified misleading language in lottery ads, cited incorrect statements of the odds of winning, and found inaccuracies in lottery reports.
Other members of the search committee, whose service is voluntary, include C. Tom Clowe Jr., Texas Lottery Commission chairman; David Heinlein, Charitable Bingo industry representative; Francisco Hernandez, Texas Ethics Commission member; Rock Johnson, president of the Texas Grocery and Convenience Association; Leticia Vásquez, Texas Lottery Commission employee; and Elizabeth Whitaker, former Texas Lottery commissioner; and Anthony Sadberry, former Texas Lottery commissioner. Dawn Nettles, publisher of the Lotto Report, was also named to the committee but stepped down.
