SAC's Kratochvil Receives
Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship

Carol Kratochvil, a student at San Antonio College, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.  The Foundation annually awards 400 scholarships to students attending community colleges, based on their demonstrated academic success and participation in community service in the past 12 months.
Kratochvil is studying Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling with a goal of becoming licensed as a chemical dependency counselor and working in this area.

She has volunteered at jails working with inmates in drug and alcohol recovery, and in January she will begin a 4,000-hour internship as part of the academic program.    Kratochvil has worked for 14 years as a comptroller of an oil and gas exploration company, but she has had a longtime interest in a career as a chemical dependency counselor.     "The Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program gives support and encouragement to students . . . who often juggle school, work and family, and continue to give back to their communities through volunteer service," said J. Mark Davis, President of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. The Foundation was created in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Coca-Cola and to establish a legacy for the education of tomorrow's leaders and has provided nearly $2.5 million in scholarship awards to students attending two-year degree granting institutions and more than $26.8 million towards the Coca-Cola Scholars Program (for outstanding high school seniors) in the past 17 years.
