Summer EDGE Program Application Deadline is April 15
High school students in the 10th, 11th or 12th grades interested in science, math, engineering or technology may want to attend an eight-week summer EDGE Program at San Antonio College scheduled for June 6 - July 29, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.  The deadline to apply is Friday, April 15.
"The purpose of this program is to function as a bridge between the first two years of high school and the college freshman year for students interested in these subjects," said Dr. Dan G. Dimitriu, Engineering Coordinator.
Students who successfully complete the coursework will earn five credit hours that can be applied toward an Associate degree from San Antonio College and transferred toward a Bachelor's degree.
To be accepted, students must apply for admission to San Antonio, meet college admission requirements, and demonstrate academic readiness for college level work by taking a placement test.
Students in the program will be enrolled in College Algebra and Introduction to Engineering, which are included in or prerequisites to degree plans at San Antonio College and in articulation agreements with local universities.
Activities include classes, study sessions, and enrichment activities, work with leader/mentors, homework assistance, and a learning community atmosphere to encourage success.  Workshop topics include Test Taking Tips, Reading a Textbook, Study Techniques, and engineering.  In addition, there will be a guest lecturer and field trips.
The admission fee of $25 for the program includes books, supplies, and possibly lunch.  The program pays for tuition and fees.  Reduced VIA bus passes are available to students.
