SAC to Host 47th Annual Folk Dance Festival

The 47th Annual San Antonio College Folk Dance Festival, sponsored by the San Antonio College Alumni Association, will present the Serbian Folk Ensemble on Friday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. and an International Dance and Music concert on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in McAllister Auditorium.  The event, which is the largest festival of its kind in the Southwest, also includes dance workshops on Saturday and Sunday.
       
The Serbian Extravaganza will feature 40 musicians and dancers from Toronto, Canada at McAllister Auditorium, followed by dancing in the Candler Physical Education Center.  The International Dance and Music concert will include performing groups from Austin, Baton Rouge, Houston, New Orleans, San Antonio, and Toronto.  They will perform dances from France, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Moravia, and Serbia.

Friday, March 11 
McAllister Auditorium

7:30 p.m.       Serbian Extravaganza, followed by dancing in the Candler Physical Education Building

Saturday, March 12
San Antonio College Dance Studio (in the Candler Physical Education Building)

8:30 a.m.       Registration & warm-up dancing
9-10:15 a.m.  Miroslav Marcetic, Serbian
10:15-10:45 a.m.  Visiting Teachers
10:45-11 a.m.  Break
11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.  Germain Hebert, French
12:15-2 p.m.  Lunch break
2-3 p.m.  Miroslav Marcetic, Serbian
3-4 p.m.  Germain Hebert, French
5-5 p.m.  Culture Corner with Dick Crum

Sunday, March 13
