Criminal Justice Program at San Antonio College

Program Description

The Criminal Justice Program reflects the assessed needs of the community for students seeking careers in correctional science and law enforcement. The curricula are designed to prepare students for initial career preparation, career development, and for foundations leading to university transfer credits.

About the Degree Plans

The AAS Degree in Law Enforcement option is designed to assist students in developing the skills necessary for a career in law enforcement. This degree is based on Texas State requirements. This degree is designed to prepare students to enter the work force.  

The AAS Degree in Correctional Science offers a speciality degree ion as a counselor.  This degree is offered in conjunction with the Mental Health Technology Program. This degree is designed to prepare students to enter the work force is designed to assist students in developing basic skills in the forensic science area. This specialty will make for a more skilled peace officer. It will further prepare the student to transfer to a four year forensic science degree program.

The AAS Degree in Forensic Science is designed to assist students in developing basic skills in the forensic science area. This specialty will make for a more skilled peace officer. It will further prepare the student to transfer to a four year forensic science degree program.

The AA Degree in Criminal Justice is designed to assist students seeking a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice in the State of Texas. It has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for transfer to public universities. If followed, this degree will allow the student to transfer the entire degree as the first two years of any Baccalaureate Degree Program in Criminal Justice in Texas public universities.
