The Radio-Television-= Film Department offers two different two-year degree programs.  The Associate of Applied Science (= AAS) Degree in Radio-Television-Broadcasting is for students who wish to work in= the industry immediately after graduation.&nbs= p; The Associate of Arts (AA) Degree with a concentration in Radio-Television-Broadcasting prepares you to transfer to a four-year schoo= l.

 

The Radio-Television-= Film Department consists of courses in communications, film/cinema studies, and radio-television broadcasting.

 

Communications (COMM), film/cinema studies (FLMC), and radio-television-broadcasting (RTVB) courses can be taken for radio-television-broadcasting credit.  COMM 1307 Introduction to Mass Communications and COMM2327 Principle of Advertising may also be taken for journalism/photography credit.

 

Students interested i= n an AA Degree should refer to the degree requirements shown below.  Student planning for a Baccalaurea= te Degree in this field should check with the four-year school of choice for courses that will transter.  Students concentrating radio-television-broadcasting must complete 12 to 15 hours in radio-television-broadcasting or related courses with a “C” or higher and meet all course prerequisites.

 

Music Business

This Program leads to= an Associates of Applied Science Degree and is designed to prepare students for careers in a wide of range areas within the music business, including music publishing;  the management of= soloists, bands, orchestras, studios, music venues and concert bookings.  It will also prepare you for work = in related business such as retail sales, distribution, promotion and arts administration. 

 

Students take courses= in the major, courses related to the major and academic courses to meet state requ= irements.  An internship in the final semester serves as a capstone experience.  All new students should enroll in MUSB 1305 Survey of the Music Business, which serves as a prerequisite or co-requisite for other classes in the major.  For additional information about t= his degree, please contact Professor Fredric Weiss at 210-733-2793

COLLEGE BULLETIN:

 

All students should be familiar with the information contained in the San Antonio

College Bulletin.  A= copy may be picked up at the Bookstore at SAC located in the Loftin Student Center.<= /span>

 

MINIMUM ACADEMIC STAND= ARDS:

 

A = San Antonio College student must maintain a 2.0 grade point average in all course work to satis= fy minimum academic standards.  A= 2.0 average, as well as a good academic standing in the final semester is requi= red for graduation from San A= ntonio College.  Each student is responsible for kn= owing the college’s minimum academic standards, which determine scholastic eligibility.

 

NEW AND TRANSFER EVENI= NG STUDENT:

 

Students are required to provide the Director of Admissions and Records with official transcripts by mid-semester from all schools of attendance or appropriate G.E.D. scores.

The office of Admissions and Records will not release SAC transcripts unless the student has these documents on file, nor may a student re-enroll.

 

STUDENT DOCUMENTS:

 

Please have your SAC I.D. card, computer schedule/tuition receipt and copies of any class changes readily available throughout the semester. The documents can = be used for verification purposes.

COURSE SYLLABUS AND GR= ADING PROCEDURE:=

 

The instructor will furnish a course syllabus at the beginning of the semester along with the grading procedure.  Students should be familiar with the course syllabus and the grading procedure to avoid any misunderstandings.

 

SCHEDULE CHANGES:  (ADDING AND DROPPING COURSES)=

 

<= span style=3D'mso-list:Ignore'>1.&n= bsp;     The adding and dropping of courses may be done by telephone/WEB or during Schedule Changes on-campus. After schedule Changes, drops are processed in the Admission and Records Office.

2.=    IF YOU ADD A CLASS AFTER YOU= RE INITIAL PAYMENT, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY THE ADDITIONAL TUITION AND FEES IMMEDIATELY.  FAILURE TO = PAY THE ADDITIONAL TUITION AND FEES WILL CAUSE CANCELLATION OF ALL YOUR CLASSES= .

3.   Courses MUST be dropped befo= re classes start to receive a 100% refund.

4.   Students are responsible for dropping any and all classes the class was cancelled.

MILITARY STUDENTS:<= /b>

 

All military students who received tuition assistance and wish to withdraw from a course should first clear with the Base Education Office on base, then initiate an= official course drop at the Admissions and Records Office (FAC 216) at San Antonio College= .

PARKING AND TRAFFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS:

 

San Antonio College is located within the Tobi= n Hill Neighborhood, so students should be sensitive to the residents and their property.  It is a traffic vio= lation to park on public right-of-way even if there is no curb along the street.  Car alarms that go off while parke= d in or near a residential area are a nuisance to business and residents, especi= ally if those who have to endure the noise cannot contact the car owner.

 

1.  The Cit= y of San Antonio is enc= ouraging all commuters to help cut down on auto emissions, which are polluting our air.  Please consider using alternative modes of transportation such as walking, biking, car-pooling, or riding the bus to and from the campus.&nbs= p; By doing your part to protect our air quality, you are preserving our environment for future generations.  You will also be helping to relieve the parking congestion on the ca= mpus and saving your money.

 

 &= nbsp;    2    Only motor vehicles wit= h a valid ACCD Vehicle Registration Tag/Decal properly displayed may park on campus.  Vehicle Registration Tag/Decal will not be honored unless it is properly displayed and plainly visible from the outside.  The= tag should be hung from the rear view mirror with the registration number visib= le from the front of the vehicle.  No person should park in any parking lot other than as designated by the Vehic= le Registration Tag/Decal on their vehicle.

Student parking areas are available as shown on the map given to you when you purchase your parking permit.  Please use the designated lots for your own protection.&n= bsp; Car registration occurs during the registration process or at the Business Office on Monday – Thursday between 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m.  – 5:00 p.m.

 

Par= king reinstatement fees and/or fines are assessed for each Parking Violation Not= ice.  The fee/fine is $10.00 if paid wit= hin ten (10) school/work days from the date the Violation Notice was issued.  If not paid within ten (10) days, = the fee will automatically increase to $16.00
