Program Overview
The Radio, Television and Film Program at San Antonio College offers students a fun and engaging way to learn basic skills and principles every media professional needs. Whether your interest is in television broadcasting as an announcer or a technician, or you are interested in becoming an audio production technician in radio, television or film - or if you dream of becoming a technical or creative person on a film or video production crew, the RTVF Department at SAC can help.
Our program is a two-year program comprised of 62-65 credit hours in qualified courses. The following information was taken directly from the 2003-2004 San Antonio College Bulletin:
The Radio-Television-Film Department at San Antonio College prepares you for employment in a variety of media positions and communications related professions. You'll take courses that will prepare you to compete in the new digital broadcasting environment.
The Radio, Television, and Film Department offers courses in Communications, Film/Cinema Studies, and Radio-Television-Broadcasting.
Communications (COMM) and Film/Cinema Studies (FLMC) courses can be taken for Radio-Television-Broadcasting credit. COMM 1307 and COMM 2327 may also be taken for Journalism/Photography credit. Comm 1307 and COMM 2327 are accepted at some senior institutions as transfer courses.
Students interested in an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree should refer to the degree requirements section (Section 7, Graduation) of the college Bulletin.
Students planning for a baccalaureate degree in this field should check with the four-year school of choice for courses that will transfer.
Students concentrating in Radio-Television-Broadcasting must complete 18 hours in Radio-Television-Broadcasting or related courses with a grade of "C" or higher and meet all course prerequisites.
Students concentrating in Broadcast Journalism must complete 18 hours in Radio-Television-Broadcasting, Journalism or related courses
