The primary function of the Scholarship Office is help students locate scholarships more easily and to advise students about how to submit effective scholarship applications.

There are two places that a student can locate scholarships:

1) Internal: Scholarships available to a student of the Alamo Colleges.

2) External: Scholarships available to any college student. These are found through search engines such as Google or Yahoo or scholarship search engines such as the Hispanic Scholarship Fund or Fastweb.

An astonishing amount of scholarships exist to help students pay for their college education. The secret in obtaining the money is the time it takes to look and apply for the scholarships. Although looking and applying for scholarships are time consuming jobs, in the long run, they serve to alleviate the cost of your college education for free. In additon to putting extra money in your pocket, applying for scholarships will help you to practice your writing skills and may expose you to interviews that will prepare you for when you start applying for a job.
