INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY

Sociology is a discipline that studies society, the social environment, group interaction, cultural/ethnic/racial similarities and differences, sociological concepts and theories.

Most students are pursuing careers in San Antonio or other Texas cities.  To work effectively in any chosen profession (over 90% of US jobs are in service), it is vitally important to learn cultural differences and similarities, especially those pertaining to the Mexican-American; therefore, the course emphasizes that particular population.

The course is manageable and flexible.  You will be expected to read the assigned chapters, take two major exams (online), and complete a class project pertaining to the Mexican-American or another culture with prior approval of the professor..

FIRST STEP: Log onto PALS (see SAC web site--click on "PALS" and follow the steps):  http://sacportal.accd.edu/cp/home/loginf

If you are an internet student, you need to read your PALS messages daily.  Vital instructions will be forwarded through the system.

Thank you for enrolling in my class.
