Activity
One, Improving Academic Programs, will improve the academic
outcomes for Hispanic Students through the following targeted
enhancements in academic programs:
1.) Learning Communities for developmental
and core courses,
2.) Faculty Instruction in Alternative
Learning Strategies,
3.) Supplement Instruction for core “gateway”
courses with high levels of attrition/failure,
4.) The establishment of Computer Literacy/Web-based
Learning Center,
5.) Strategies for Success, a eight-week
intervention for students on scholastic probation.
The
objective of Activity One will be to achieve the following
outcomes at the end of the five years:
-
An increase in the numbers of Hispanics graduating;
-
An increase in the transfer rate to four-year Texas public
institutions for Hispanics;
-
A reduction of the gap between the average GPA of Hispanic
students and white non Hispanic students; and,
-
An increase in the numbers of Hispanic students receiving
college credit for Internet courses.
