Fine Art courses are part of a general fine art transfer curriculum
to four-year accredited colleges and universities.
Portfolio Days are held annually at the Visual Arts Center.
Internationally reknown art institutes annually recruit our
students and provide valuable information to prospective transfer
students regarding degree opportunities, portfolio development
and review, and student life. Schools of Art and public universities
generally accept the visual arts transfer curriculum without
loss of credit. Our students are recruited by major institutions
from as far away as The School of the Art Institute of Chicago
and the San Francisco Art Institute. And our students are successful!
Former Visual Arts students have received prime recruitment
scholarships to attend Maryland Art Institute, Cornell University,
the Kansas City Art Institute, the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago, the San Francisco Art Institute, the California
College of Arts & Crafts, Pratt Art Institute, Parsons,
Minneapolis School of Art and Design, Ohio State University,
University of Wisconsin, and the University of Texas in Austin.
The San Francisco Art Institute annually offers a full scholarship
for a student selected by the Visual Arts and Technology faculty
and Texas A&M Corpus Christi has dedicated an annual scholarship
to a departmental nominee. The Portfolio Days web page lists
participating schools of art and art institutes with links
to their websites. For more information on admission requirements,
degree plans and offerings, financial aid and scholarships,
and student and city life, please visit the schools' websites.
The department's Portfolio Committee provides students who
are sufficiently ambitious to do the hard work of developing
a competitive portfolio, valuable information about these schools
and critical feedback on their preparation. The ability of
our students to compete in this way illustrates the high quality
of student preparedness upon completion of Visual Arts & Technology
programs and the resulting scope of our national reputation.
