Program Accreditation & Licensure

The Medical Laboratory Technician Program is an integrated curriculum which leads to an Associate's of Applied Science Degree. The curriculum includes courses in clinical hematology, immunology, immunohematology, clinical microbiology, and clinical chemistry. Clinical experiences are provided in area hospitals and clinics. After completing the required academic and medical laboratory courses, you will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and will be eligible for any of the national certification examinations administered by the various accrediting agencies (American Society for Clinical Pathologists, American Society of Medical Technologists...).

At this time, the state of Texas does not require any type of licensing examination for medical laboratory technicians; however, completion of this program will allow you to take the licensing examinations in other states.

One other program is offered in under the Medical Laboratory Technician program: Phlebotomy training.

The Medical Laboratory Technician program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS), 8410 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Suite 670, Chicago Illinois, 60631-3415.
