Admission & Prerequisite Requirements
In order to be admitted into the OTA Program, the student must have completed
the Allied Health Department Application form and submitted it to the OTA
Program Director. Upon review by the Program Director, the applicant will
be notified as to when interviews will be scheduled. The applicant may be
interviewed by a panel consisting of program faculty and/or professionals from
the occupational therapy community. All applicants who have a complete
application package will be offered an interview. Those who do not have a
complete application will be notified as to what may be missing from the package
and may be offered the opportunity to add missing information.
Although the program accepts applications anytime, the published deadline for
applying is March 31st of the year in which a person wishes to begin
programmatic courses in August. Those applicants with a complete package
as of the deadline will be accepted before those with incomplete packages.
Prerequisites for beginning the programmatic courses in August include:
- Completed Allied Health Department Application Form.
- Unofficial copies of all college transcripts
- A one page autobiography/statement as to why the applicant wishes to be an
Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Verification of a 12th grade or higher reading level
- Completion of all remediation coursework.
It is important for all potential applicants to contact the
Program Director early in the planning process of selecting a career path.
This is the only way the applicant can be apprised of the most up-to-date
information regarding requirements for application.
