Admission and Prerequisite Requirements

Students desiring to complete the Phlebotomy program must meet all of the admission requirements for acceptance into St. Philip's College and the Allied Health Department. These include the following:

  • SPC Admissions Requirements
  • Allied Health Department Admission Requirements

In addition, all students must pass the English and Writing portions of any recognized placement test (Accuplacer, SAT, ACT or TASP).  There is  no Mathematics requirement for this program.  No formal application is required to enroll in the program. 

Classes begin at the start of each flex semester.  The clinical is offered in the second flex and summer semesters.  Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis and is limited to the first twenty students who register for PLAB 1223.

Before beginning the clinical rotation, each student must:

  • pass a background check;
  • pass a drug screen;
  • complete the required immunizations; and
  • have proof of health insurance
