 The following are some frequently asked questions about the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program:

  • Do I have to have a degree in Radiology Technology before I can apply to the Ultrasound Program?
     No, it is a 2 year Associate Degree Program.
     
  • How long is the program?
    The program is two years, with summer included.
     
  • Are classes available on weekend or evenings?
    It is a two year full-time day program; occasionally clinical may be available second shift.
     
  • How much is the cost?
    The cost is approximately $700-$800 per semester
     
  • How long is a typical day?
    The student needs to prepare to be available from 7:00a.m.-4:00p.m. Monday through Friday. There are no weekend or evening classes in the program. The student may elect to take academic classes during these hours.
     
  • Will I need transportation?
    Yes. Starting in the Third Semester, the student will be assigned to a clinical or hospital in the San Antonio area. It is the student's responsibility to ensure they arrive at the clinical site on time.
     
  • How can I further my education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography?
    There are several colleges and universities that offer relative degrees and courses. These include Southwest Texas State University, Wayland Baptist, UTSA, UIW and Midwestern State University.
