Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some frequently asked questions about the Surgical Technology Program.

  • How long is the program?
    One year. Program starts in the Fall (Aug.) and finishes the following Fall (Aug.) Completion of prerequisites will require an additional semester or two prior to the beginning of the program. 
      
  • Are classes available on weekend or evenings?
    No. The program is only offered during the week and day time hours.
  • What is the deadline for applications?
    Deadline is March 31. Applications are accepted in January through deadline.
      
  • What is the cost of the program?
    Approximately $2600 ($600 - $800 per semester). Textbooks are purchased at the beginning of the program and used throughout the year.
      
  • What is the entry level pay for a Surgical Technologist?
    It ranges from $12.00 - $14.00 per hour, approximately $30,000.00-$35,000.00 annually. Hospitals are competitive with pay, benefits, and other incentives for employees.
      
  • Where can I look for information about the Surgical Technology career?
    Information can be found on the Association of Surgical Technology website and at your local libraries. Look for the Surgical Technologist journal.
