Electrical Trades

With today’s rapid growth of technology increasing the use of electricity, the need for skilled people in the various areas of the electrical field has mushroomed. St. Philip’s College-Southwest Campus Electrician program will prepare you for entry and advancement in the fields of industrial, commercial and residential electrical wiring.

The wiring systems you will become familiar with include conduit, cable, switches, outlets, receptacles and lights. You will get hands-on training in constructing motor control circuits, building transformers, rewinding electrical machinery, bending conduit to specifications and wiring circuits for use in private residences. Emphasis is placed on adherence to the National Electric code and practical safety applications during installations, troubleshooting and maintenance. You will also use realistic training aids and mock-ups simulating actual job and field situations. You also will experience on-the-job training in the local industry.

Upon completing the required curriculum, you will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree. Certificates of Completion are also available.
