COURSE
DESCRIPTION: This course provides students with the
knowledge and skills to manage accounts and resources in a Microsoft Windows
Server™ 2003 environment. These tasks include managing user, computer, and
group accounts; managing access to network resources; managing printers;
managing an organizational unit in a network based on Active Directory®
directory service; and implementing Group Policy to manage users and computers.

INSTRUCTIONAL TIME: See

PREREQUISITE (S): ITMC
1441Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Network Infrastructure: Network Services, or have equivalent knowledge and
skills.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Roll WILL be
taken during each class period. A student not present to answer roll WILL be counted absent. It is the
responsibility of a student who is late to contact the instructor at the end of
class so that attendance MAY be
corrected. After the census date, a
student who has accumulated the equivalent of more than two weeks’ absences MAY be dropped from the course.
After the end
of the “Q” grading period, the instructor MAY
issue a “W” grade. A student who is unable to continue in the class WILL be responsible for seeing that he
or she is dropped. Failure to do so WILL
result in an “F” grade. (Refer to the
St. Philip's College 2003-2004 Catalog).
TARDY
POLICY: Tardiness will affect your
overall performance in class.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:
Lecture, hands-on activities, class discussion, and presentations.

CRITERIA: GRADING
SCALE:
Quizzes or
Exams 30% A =90-100
Labs/Projects/Assignments 50% B =80-89
Final 20% C =70-79
Total 100% D =60-69
F = 59 and below
Note: Students
taking this course for their major must earn a “C” or better. Students taking
this course for their major who earn a “D or F” will have to repeat this
course.
MAKE-UP WORK POLICY:
All assignments and exams must be turned in on the assigned due date and
time to receive full credit. Any work that is turned in after the assigned due date and time will be deducted 20 pts
automatically.
PLAGIARISM POLICY: If
it is determined that a student has participated in a scholastically dishonest
activity (cheating, plagiarism, and/or collusion), the student will receive a
grade of zero for that assignment.

SOFTWARE POLICY: Students
are strictly prohibited from any unauthorized copying of software that has been
purchased by the Business Information Solutions Department for use in the
labs. The Department is responsible for
abiding by copyright laws and will take appropriate disciplinary measures
against students violating these laws.
COURSE EXPECTATIONS/REGULATIONS: Refer to the Code of Ethics at the end of the
syllabus. Additional expectations may be
developed for this course.
LAB/CLASSROOM POLICIES:
1)
The
classroom/lab is a working environment and should be treated accordingly.
2)
Do not bring
the following to class: children, other
visitors, food, and/or drinks.
3)
Report machine
(computer/printer) malfunctions immediately to your faculty member. Do not attempt to fix the problem yourself.
4)
Seek the
approval of a faculty member before using a lab. Bowden labs are not open labs.
5)
Students are
not permitted to download or install software without the approval of a faculty
member.
6)
Limit
Internet/e-mail usage to approved course content.
7)
During class
time, turn pagers and mobile phones to vibrate/silent mode. Also, turn music players off.
