LVN-ADN Mobility Program
Program Description
The St. Philip's College Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing is an
LVN to ADN Mobility program approved by the
Texas Board of Nursing.
The program is a 12-month course of study designed to prepare the graduate to
function safely and effectively as a Provider of Care, Coordinator of Care, and
a Member of the Profession. The curriculum includes a transition course as a
bridge to the second year of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing.
Didactic and clinical nursing courses to including communication, professional
development, ethical and legal issues; and general education courses in the
humanities, biological, social, and physical sciences are integrated throughout
the year long program, building on a series learning experiences and activities to assist the student in developing
problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The curriculum consists of 24 credit hours of general education
courses and 38 hours of nursing education courses. Classroom and laboratory
experiences are held on the St. Philip's College Main Campus. The clinical component
is provided in a variety of public and private health care settings.
The St.
Philip's College Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing is fully
accredited by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The
student who successfully completes the program is eligible to apply for the
National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses
(NCLEX-RN).
