Certified Nurse Aide
Receive training for a hi-demand career in healthcare...
This is a 140-hour course that includes lecture and clinical components, and prepares students to
take the state of Texas examination to become a Certified Nurse Aide by the
Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. This program prepares
students to become entry-level nursing assistants by achieving a level of
knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to provide safe care to the residents of long term care facilities/nursing homes. Some of the topics include: patient comfort and safety, range of motion for long term care
residents, communication skills, basic nursing skills, residents’ rights, etc. This training program is licensed by the
Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.

Important! Program Requirements Update!
Due to Texas Department of State Health Services requirements, all applicants
must submit proof of the complete Hepatitis B series prior to admission into the
CNA program. This is a 3-shot series that takes 6 months to complete, so please
plan accordingly.

Cost:
- The first class (lecture) is $485.00
- The second class (clinicals) is $296.00
- The total cost for the program is $781.00 (this does not include the
textbook, scrubs, or others supplies)
- Financial aid is available in the form of a TPEG-CE Grant, and you can
apply at www.fafsa.ed.gov, or call the
Student Financial Services Office at (210) 486-2600 for more information.
Schedule:
- CNA classes will resume this spring 2010. We expect to offer a day
class, night class, and a weekend class. Please check back soon for exact
dates and times for spring semester classes.
- Check back soon for the CNA schedule in New Braunfels at the Central
Texas Technology Center.
- We are always accepting applications, so please submit your complete
application for spring classes. Classes are filled on a first-come
first-served basis.
Requirements:
- You must first apply and be accepted into the CNA program.
- You must be free of communicable diseases and in suitable
physical/emotional health to safely care for patients.
- You must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- You must not currently be listed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry
in revoked status.
- You must not be listed on the Employee Misconduct Registry.
- You must obtain proof of required immunizations. (see the list of
immunizations on the application packet)
- You must be free of previous felony convictions, which will be
confirmed via the submission of a criminal background check. The background
check is due two weeks prior the start of clinicals, but can be submitted up
front. Visit www.precheck.com to initiate your background check.
How to Apply:
- You must submit a complete
application packet, and receive a formal
acceptance letter from us before being allowed to register for this class.
- Obtain the application packet,
and fill out the Application for Admission form.
- Gather your shot records, showing that you've received all of the
required immunizations. (You can get your immunization record from your
family physician, county health department, your high school, military
training institutes, or other similar groups)
- Once your Application for Admission is filled out, and you have obtained
ALL of the required immunizations, you can submit your application via mail,
in person, or by fax.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- Your criminal background check is due two prior to the start of
clinicals, but can be submitted up front if you desire.
